Bhadrak: Vague, unrealistic and unscientific methods of treatment are used by quacks to fool the unsusceptible. The practice continues, unabated.
A case in point is immersing a one and a half year child who had stopped breathing the doctors declared him dead. However, this was not acceptable to the family and they resorted to a practice preached by a known quack of the region.
A popular practice – ‘salt therapy’ was given to revive a minor boy who died due to drowning in Gandheibindha village in the Bhadrak district.
Reports stated that the ritual was carried out on the premises of the hospital where the boy was declared dead, which reflected the state of awareness of people and their dependency on superstitions.
