Angul: In a deadly incident at Gobara village of Talcher, an elderly woman and two children were killed after a car rammed into them today evening.
The incident occured when children were playing on the village street. The car driver, reportedly in an inebriated condition, knocked them down.
The deceased have been identified as Pramila Pradhan, who died on the spot, while the two children Punam Pradhan and Gugu were admitted to the district headquarters hospital in critical condition.
Both succumbed to the fatal injuries at the DHH. The tragedy triggered tension in the area after locals caught hold of the car driver and thrashed him.
The villagers were pacified after the police intervened. A case has been registered in this connection and the driver has been detained.
