Bhubaneswar: Two persons died and eleven others sustained severe injuries in separate road mishaps reported from the state capital and Rayagada late Sunday night.
According to sources, the accident took place when a car hit a divider near the Gohira flyover bridge at Tamando. The mishap left one dead and four injured.
The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Ray, a resident of Balianta. The injured are presently undergoing treatment at a city-based hospital.
In another road mishap, one person died and three others were injured as the car they were on board overturned near Bandhaguda village under Ambadala police station in Rayagada district early Monday morning.
According to sources, five friends from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh were returning to Andhra Pradesh after attending a marriage party in Bargarh. The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
It is learnt that one of them is still trapped inside the mangled car. Firefighters and police are trying to rescue the trapped person.
Police meanwhile have begun an investigation into the matter.
In a separate mishap, two persons sustained severe injuries as the bike they were travelling in was hit by a car from the rear near Kali temple at Baramunda Square.
Upon being informed, police rushed the injured to a hospital and seized the bike from the accident site.
