Cuttack: A total of 49 people were killed after a fire broke out in an apartment building in Kuwait. Of the 49 people, 45 have been identified as Indian nationals working in the Gulf State. And two of them are Odias.
Thirty-year-old Mohammad Zahur, a resident of Tigiria area in Cuttack district is one of the two deceased who died of asphyxiation in the major fire.
Son of Samsur Mohammad, Zuhur was working as a civil laboratory technician at a trading company. He was residing on the 5th floor of the building.
According to sources, Zuhur woke up at 5 am on the fateful day to offer prayer. He started waking up his roommates after he came to know that a fire broke out in the building. Some of his friends saved their lives thanks to Zuhur.
Zuhur, however, suffocated from rising smoke after the fire spread like anything. The fire brigade rescued him in critical condition and rushed him to a hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
One of his relatives identified him following which his body was sent to India.
His death has sent shockwaves in his family. Zuhur was married and his wife is seven months pregnant.
