Phulbani: Kandhamal SP suspended two policemen and terminated the services of three home guard personnel for their alleged involvement in the mysterious death of a ganja smuggler Jyestha Bandaki in the district late last month.
While the suspended policemen are SI Ajit Kumar Behera and Havildar Ramchandra Nayak, the services of homeguard jawans Abhiram Mahanand, Jagabandhu Kanhar and Ratnakar Nayak were terminated, Kandhamal Additional SP Balabhadra Deep informed.
The ASP said, “We have already done the crime scene recreation are waiting for the post-mortem report. A scientific team and RTO have scrutinised the vehicle to find any evidence.”
It is worth mentioning here that a patrolling party of Gochapada police nabbed a ganja smuggler from Boudh last month and allegedly beat him to death. Later, the police party mowed Jyestha under their vehicle and dumped his body in Danganamu ghat under Gochapada police limits. The accused policemen and home guards left the spot with the contraband being transported by Jyestha and his money.
