Death Of Plus-II Student In Road Mishap Leads To Tension In Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Tension ran high at Nandapur Square under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak district on Monday after a speeding car ran over a college student killing her on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Pravasini Nayak, a Plus II student of Maniklal Women’s College. She was on her way to college at 10 am when the speeding car hit her. As a result, she died on the spot.

Following the incident, residents and students of Maniklal Women’s College held up traffic and ransacked the car. Also, the locals assaulted the car driver.

Tihidi Police Inspector-In-Charge, Tahsildar, and Block Development Officer (BDO) reached the spot and pacified the locals. Besides, the district administration promised to provide a compensation of Rs 25,000 to the deceased’s family following which the college students and residents cleared the road.

Police, meanwhile, seized the car and detained the cab driver for interrogation.
