Rayagada: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought an Action Taken Report on the mysterious deaths of two Russian tourists at a hotel in Rayagada town of Odisha.
Acting on a complaint filed by Human Rights Defender Rabindra Mishra of Berhampur, the NHRC asked Rayagada SP to look into the matter and submit an Action Taken Report within four weeks, for the perusal of the Commission.
The deceased Russian tourists are Vladimir Bydanov and his co-traveller Pavel Antov (65).
Bydanov had been found unconscious in his hotel room in Rayagada town of Odisha on December 22. He was later declared dead by doctors at the district headquarters hospital.
His roommate Antov (65), a Russian deputy (lawmaker) of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region and multi-millionaire businessman, died after allegedly falling from the hotel’s third-floor terrace on December 24.
The Crime Branch, which is probing the deaths of two Russian nationals, seized burnt remnants of the two from the cremation ground at Rayagada on December 31 for forensic examination.
It is also likely to take the help of Interpol as the investigation may require interrogation and examination of certain people in Russia, sources said.
