**Bhubaneswar:** Dwellers of a slum in the capital city here on Saturday exhumed the decomposed body of a tractor driver in presence of police from the locked house of the deceased.
As per reports, such a shocking incident has taken place at the Dhirikut Basti (slum) near Sainik School under the Mancheswar Police Station limits here in the city.
Locals said, they had intimated the police four days ago about the mysterious missing of a couple staying in their locality.
On Saturday, the slum-dwellers in the presence of police broke-open the locked house of the couple and hit upon a mound of earth inside.
Smelling something fishy they started digging the portion and were awestruck to discover a decomposed body buried four feet below being slab laid and concretized.
Scientific team was called in and carried out examination of the body before it was sent for autopsy.
Locals suspect it to be fallout of extramarital affairs as the couple used to quarrel very often.
The owner of the hut said the man used to come home in an inebriated state every day and beat his wife following which the wife used to utter killing him.
The landlord also said that he himself used to advise her not to commit such a crime and better opt for a divorce following which the wife used to reply that divorce would not work as her irate husband following divorce would resort to murdering her parents.
A driver friend of the deceased alleged it to be a murder and might have been a handiwork of the wife and her cohorts as she had an extramarital affair.
Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said investigation is on while the wife of deceased is yet to be traced.
After she is traced out her statement would lead to unravel the truth and motive, the DCP added.
