Bhubaneswar: The Deep Depression over coastal areas of West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha moved west-northwestwards and now lies over south Jharkhand and adjoining North Odisha and West Bengal about 40 km south-southwest of Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), about 120 km southeast of Ranchi (Jharkhand) and about 220 km east-northeast of Jharsuguda (Odisha).
It would continue to move west-northwestwards across Jharkhand & adjoining north Odisha and North Chhattisgarh towards north Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours and weaken gradually.
Under its impact, today i.e. August 20, rainfall at most places is very likely with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over Northwest Odisha, Jharkhand & Vidarbha. Rainfall at most places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over the remaining parts of Odisha, south Chhattisgarh, and West Madhya Pradesh.
Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph over Northwest Bay of Bengal and along & off north Odisha coasts is likely during next 12 hours and decrease gradually thereafter. Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 gusting to 60 kmph is likely over south Jharkhand, North Odisha & adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, and North Chhattisgarh during the next 12 hours.
Strong Winds speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is likely to prevail over interior districts of north Odisha during the next 12 hours and over East Madhya Pradesh & adjoining West Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours.
