**Bhubaneswar : ** The deep depression over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal moved Northwards and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST on 24th October, 2016 over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal, about 930 km East-Southeast of Gopalpur.
“The system is very likely to intensify into a Cyclonic storm during next 24 hours. It will move North wards for some time and then re-curve initially North-Northwestwards and then Northwestwards. It is very likely to reach Northwest Bay of Bengal in the morning of 27th October, 2016,” informed Sarat Sahu, Director, Met Department.
“It won’t affect Odisha much as per the recent predictions. There is no probability of rain in the next 48 hours. On 26th afternoon, the northern parts of Odisha may recieve some rain, on 27th there will be rains in the coastal areas. And on 28th and 29th, there is probability of rains,” according to him.
Surface wind from Northerly direction with speed reaching 30 to 35 KMPH with gusting 45 KMPH would prevail along and off Odisha Coast. Sea condition would be moderate to rough.
Fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into sea.
“At present, we are unable to ascertain whether it will cross Odisha or not. After it re-curves, we can modify our forecast after studying its track and intensity,” revealed the Met Officer.
