Deep Depression Triggers Torrential Rains In Gajapati, Many Evacuated To Cyclone Shelters

Paralakhemundi:   As the deep depression over Bay of Bengal has spelt inclement weather conditions especially on coastal and southern parts of Odisha besides adjoining coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gajapati district has been experiencing incessant rains for the last 24 hours.

Torrential rains have been pounding on this district incessantly since last night.

The district administration had much earlier alerted all the block administrations to be fully prepared to meet the exigencies.

Accordingly, the people residing over the hilly areas have been evacuated to safer places in compliance with the District Collector’s directive.

Till today, over 500 people hailing from four vulnerable blocks have already been evacuated to the cyclone shelters, the district administration sources informed.
