**Bhubaneswar:** Demanding increase in minimum support price (MSP) for paddy to Rs 2,800 and vehemently opposing power tariff hike announced on Thursday (March 23), opposition Congress and BJP members on Friday resorted to ruckus in the Odisha Assembly disrupting the proceedings of the House.
Soon after the House assembled for the day, irate Congress and BJP members trooped into the Well of the House shouting slogans and reiterating their demand for increasing minimum support price (MSP) to the farmers of the State for their paddy from Rs 1,400 to Rs 2,800 per quintal.
The opposition also vehemently opposed the hike in power tariff announced yesterday by the State Government.
Following the pandemonium, Speaker Niranjan Pujari had to adjourn the House for an hour. With no respite, the House was further adjourned till 12.50 pm later till 3 pm.
After the House re-assembled later, Rs 7373,85,00,000 demand for expenditure relating to the Rural Development Department was passed in the House.
