Dengue Cases Mount To 49 In Barbil Area Of Keonjhar

**Keonjhar: **Dengue outbreak in Barbil area of Keonjhar district is taking alarming proportions as number of affected persons rose to 49 by Sunday.

According to reports, a 4-member doctor team from Bhubaneswar reached at the spot along with another doctor team from Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital to take the stock of the situation.

The team is collecting blood samples from various wards in the municipality and treating the affected persons.

Out of the total affected persons, two have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack while 4 others were admitted to Keonjhar DHH.

The disease is spreading its tentacles in Sriram Nagar and Upper Basti area under Ward No-4 of the Municipality.

On Friday, District Collector Dr N Thirumala Naik and CDMO Dr Kabindra Prasad Sahu visited the affected area to take stock of the situation.

Poor hygiene and sanitation in the area are attributed to the spread of dengue in the region.
The collector had directed the health officials to raise awareness among people and bring them to the hospital immediately for treatment.
