Bhubaneswar: Dengue situation in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) areas was reviewed today on the instruction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
According to an official press note, the review meeting was chaired by the Development Commissioner.
Principal Secretary In Charge Health & Family Welfare, Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development, 5T Secretary, MD NHM, Commissioners of BMC & CMC and Director, Public Health were present in the meeting.
The preparedness, steps taken and role of different stakeholders was discussed in the meeting.
There has been a 3.5-fold increase in testing over the previous year, however, the number of cases detected remains similar to that of last year.
Thus, reducing the test positivity rate to 7.4% from about 25% last year.
There is adequate availability of platelets, drugs & test kits to manage the present dengue caseload, the press note said.
It was discussed at the meeting that people should be sensitized to observe dry days every week by evacuation and elimination of stagnant water sources in and around the house like coolers, dustbins, flower pots, tyres, tins and bottles thrown around, where there is water accumulation.
People should come forward and participate in dengue elimination by distancing them from Aedes mosquito, testing early in Govt. sentinel sites and reporting for treatment at due time.
It was decided to increase the IEC activity, particularly A-V clips aimed at source reduction activities by people at large to take care of their home and surroundings during the monsoon and post-monsoon season.
