Bhubaneswar: The dengue situation in the State is static with no surge in the number of cases, informed Public Health Director Dr Niranjan Mishra.
Dr Mishra said that while 80-100 dengue cases are reported daily from Bhubaneswar, a total of 200 cases are reported from across the State.
Sharing statistics on the mosquito-borne viral disease, the Public Health Director informed that on September 10 as many as 68,620 samples were tested across the State and out of these 5,097 tested positive for dengue.
The highest, 2,133 cases have been detected in Khordha district, he added.
Dengue is a viral infection caused by the dengue virus (DENV), transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes. The virus is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected female mosquitoes, primarily the Aedes aegypti mosquito, Dr Mishra explained
