Bhubaneswar: Several places in Odisha were covered with thick, dense blankets on Thursday morning even as the mercury dropped a few degrees Celsius. Dense fog occurred in many places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Koraput districts reducing visibility to 50 to 200 meters.
Dense fog was also observed in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, disrupting normal life. Early morning commuters faced problems as public transport vehicles were few and far between in the early hours of the day.
Driving was problematic and in many places, drivers were seen using headlights to navigate through the roads in the morning. An alert has been issued for drivers to adopt caution, especially in accident-prone areas.
Meanwhile, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that some places in Odisha may experience light rain/showers on Thursday.
