Bhubaneswar: A thick blanket of fog created problems for the commuters and early office-goers in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on Thursday. With visibility level getting reduced to 10 metres, commuters in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar had a tough time to reach their destination.
Especially, the movement of vehicular traffic on the outskirts of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and other patches was affected due to dense fog.
It is pertinent to note that the state has been experiencing intermittent rain for the last two days. Going by the prediction of the India Meteorological Department, the weather will change from today. The day temperature in the state will increase by 8 to 10 degrees from March 24.
The temperature was below 27 degrees Celsius in nine cities, while the temperature was recorded below 30 degrees Celsius in 28 cities. The weather department has predicted that the temperature will be 10 to 12 degrees below normal in all these places and will increase from today.
Also, the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Wednesday fell to record lows for March.
According to the Meteorological Centre, the previous lowest maximum day temperature of 24.3 degrees Celsius was recorded on 6th March 1970 and today’s (20th March 2024) maximum temperature of 19.2 degrees Celsius surpassed that record and became the lowest reading on the scale since the year 1952.
