Bhubaneswar: A thick blanket of dense to very dense fog has engulfed the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, disrupting normal life and road traffic, on Saturday.
The fog, which started rolling in early this morning, has reduced visibility to almost zero, causing widespread chaos and disruptions in daily life.
According to sources, the dense fog has severely affected road traffic with several highways and roads witnessing slow-moving traffic.
The dense fog has also brought road traffic to a crawl, with vehicles moving at a snail’s pace on the National Highway and other major highways connecting the twin cities. The fog has reduced visibility to almost zero, making it difficult for drivers to navigate the roads.
The dense fog has also affected daily life in the twin cities, with people struggling to take their wards to school. People were seen facing difficulties in travelling and moving around, with many using their headlights to navigate through the dense fog. The fog was so thick that one could hardly see beyond 100 meters, making it difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to move around.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised people to take necessary precautions while travelling and to follow traffic rules to avoid accidents.
