Bhubaneswar: The Low Pressure Area over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal is very likely to intensify into a Depression during the next 24 hours.
The system is expected to move west-northwestwards across Odisha and Chattisgarh subsequently, Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast read.
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal districts with extremely heavy rains (>20cm) in some parts of these districts, the IMD stated.
Similarly, heavy to very heavy rain alert with a Orange warning has been issued for Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi.
The IMD has forecast rains for Odisha, till August 18 morning. Besides, a warning has been issued for fishermen not ton venture into the sea till August 11.
