Malkangiri: Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulanand Mallick visited MV-26 village in Malkangiri district today to assess the situation following recent violence. The Deputy Chief Minister held a review meeting with district officials and met with representatives from the tribal and Bengali societies.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister heard the demands of both parties and assured them that a report would be submitted to the state government, and the Chief Minister would take necessary action. He appealed for maintaining peace and harmony in the district.
The district administration has estimated a compensation of around Rs. 5 crore for damages to 234 shops and houses in MV-26 village. Essential items like kitchen sets, clothes, and blankets are being provided to the affected villagers through the Odisha Red Cross.
“We met with both communities and discussed the situation. They have given us a memorandum, and we have directed the district administration to take steps to restore normalcy,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
