Deputy CM Parida Lays Foundation For Rs 214 Cr Drinking Water Projects In Puri

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to provide clean and safe drinking water to the people of Odisha, the foundation stones of various mega piped drinking water projects were laid today in Puri-Sadar, Gop, and Nimapara blocks in Puri district.

The projects, which will benefit 157 villages under 28 gram panchayats, were inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida and Minister for Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Rural Development Rabi Narayan Naik. The Bhargavi River will serve as the water source for these projects, which will be constructed at a total cost of Rs. 213.98 crore.

 Once completed, the residents of 67 villages in 12 panchayats of Puri-Sadar block, 84 villages in 14 panchayats of Gop block, and six villages in two panchayats of Nimapara block will have access to clean and safe drinking water.

Deputy CM Parida described the project as a symbol of the aspirations of the people in the area, while Minister Naik assured that the project will be completed within the stipulated timeframe, fulfilling the basic needs of the people.

The event was attended by Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Secretary SN Girish, Director Drinking Water and Sanitation Vinit Bhardwaj, Chief Engineer, RWSS, Additional Chief Engineer, RWSS, and other officials.
