Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo participated in the Kharif Abhiyan 2025 of the National Conference on Agriculture held at the Rashtriya Krishi Vigyan Kendra located in New Delhi. Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee was also present.
This Kharif Abhiyan 2025 was held under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Agriculture ministers from different states participated and discussed about the Kharif crops.
Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo spoke about the agricultural development of Odisha and various notable schemes implemented such as providing additional input assistance of Rs. 800 above MSP to farmers under the Samrudha Krushak Yojana, cold storage policy, development of Food Production Organizations (FPOs) through Agricultural Production Clusters, supply of high quality tested seeds, management of rice fallow land, higher education assistance to the children of farmers under the Krushi Vidyanidhi Yojana, organic farming in 16600 hectares of land in 8 districts of the state through the Balabhadra Jaivik Chasa Mission, use of organic rice under the Amruta Anna Yojana in Puri Shri Mandir, etc.
Apart from this, the Union Agriculture Ministry has been requested to increase the production of pulses in rice fallow land, to provide more subsidies on oilseed crops and natural farming on additional 200 hectares of land, integration of PM Kisan and CM Kisan, revise the norm cost per farm gate unit from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 6 lakh under Horticulture (MIDH).
The Union Agriculture Minister has promised that the Union Government will pay attention to these issues and cooperate in the coming days.
The Deputy Chief Minister submitted the activity report prepared by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department of the Odisha Government to the Union Minister.
