Bhubaneswar: The Deputy Mayor elections in three Municipal Corporations of Odisha are to be held from tomorrow (April 7). Elections will also be held tomorrow for Vice-Chairperson in 105 Municipalities, informed State Election Commission (SEC) Secretary Rabindranath Sahu on Wednesday.
The election for the post of Deputy Mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation will be held on April 7. Similarly, the Deputy Mayor election for Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be held on April 8 and 9 respectively.
Nomination papers for the post of Deputy Mayor will be filed between 10 AM to 11 AM. The papers will be scrutinised from 11 AM to 12 PM. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till 1 PM. The polling will be held from 1.30 PM to 3.30 PM. The results will be declared on the same day.
If there are more than two candidates, there will be round-wise voting. The candidate with fewer votes in each round will be out of the race. The final battle will be between the last two candidates.
