Despite Slight Drop In Temp, Heatwave Prevails In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: While several places in Odisha experienced a slight drop in maximum day temperature as compared to that of Monday’s, high level of humidity made life miserable for the people.

According to data shared by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) regional centre here in its evening weather bulletin, heatwave conditions prevailed in the State with mercury breaching 40°C  and above in as many as 18 places.

Nine places recorded maximum day temperature of 41°C and above.

Paralakhemundi was the hottest place in the State by recording a maximum day temperature of 42.8°C followed by Nayagarh 42.2°C.

Bhubaneswar which had recorded the day’s highest temperature of 43.8°C on Monday recorded 41.8°C today which is a drop by 2°C.

Similarly, Cuttack which had recorded 40.2°C on Monday recorded 38.2°C today which is a drop by 2°C.

As per the IMD, while severe heatwave conditions prevailed in Jagatsinghpur district, heatwave conditions prevailed in the districts of Nayagarh, Gajapati, and Ganjam.

The IMD has further said that there shall be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during the next 48 hours. However, it added that there shall be gradual rise in temperature by 2-4°C during the subsequent 3 days at many places over the districts of Odisha.
