Bhubaneswar: Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg today visited irrigation projects in Sambalpur and Bargarh districts.
During her tour, she visited the Pump House of Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project in Bargarh district aimed at providing irrigation facilities to additional Ayacut area under the project.
She interacted with the office-bearers of Pani Panchayats including women functionaries about the management issues of Pani Panchayats and gave necessary suggestions for the smooth functioning of the PPs and how this project is going to benefit the farmers.
The Development Commissioner visited the outlet flushing work at Dumerpani and Sarandapali under the project to facilitate the irrigation of 20 hectares and two hectares of land in the respective areas.
The entire area of Additional Ayacut totalling to 5750 hectares will be irrigated in the ensuing Kharif season. This is Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) enabled. Trial irrigation in this Rabi season to the tune of 2000 hectares will also be provided.
