Cuttack: Development work of SCB Medical College to make it a world-class institution will start in March this year and the Cuttack Ring Road will be expanded to six-lane, announced Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.
“Work on the SCB Medical College will begin by the beginning of March and the Ring Road will be a six-lane road,” said Patnaik briefing newsmen after reviewing the progress made in projects at Hadia Patha, the land reclaimed land site near Mata Math.
The Chief Minister stated that reclamation of land from our lifeline Mahanadi has created a once in a lifetime opportunity to breath fresh life into the core of the ancient city.
He said that every inch of this 424 acres will be utilized to add ecological, recreational, sporting, cultural, aspirational, technological value in the lives of the people of Cuttack.
The Chief Minister further said, ” It will be the State Government’s endeavour to prepare a ‘Decongestion Plan’ for Cuttack so as to enable our beloved millennium city to have wider roads, better accessibility, public spaces and utilities, parks, modern urban infrastructure, parking, Greenery etc”.
Patnaik stated that the State government’s objective will be to keep most of the reclaimed area with greenery and open spaces and utilize the rest of the land for development purpose, beautifully surrounded by an international class riverfront.
“In this transformative process, we will engage the best-in-class city planners and also take feedback from the people so that they actively contribute make it a Citizen’s Plan,” the Chief Minister informed.
He added that the State will invest the necessary resources and he would sincerely appeal to the people of Cuttack to actively cooperate and participate to make this dream a reality.
