Bhubaneswar: Devesh Ranjan has added another feather to his cap by winning the Best Actor Male OTT Original Film – Odia award at the Indian Telly Streaming Awards 2026 for his outstanding performance in Jajabara 2.0. This psychological crime thriller has not only showcased Ranjan’s exceptional acting skills but also highlighted the growing influence of Odia cinema on national OTT platforms.

Ranjan’s portrayal of Jagat Panda, a morally conflicted and complex character, has earned him widespread acclaim. His ability to convey inner turmoil with subtlety and control has impressed both critics and audiences. The film’s success on streaming platforms has cemented its position as one of the most notable Odia digital releases.

The Indian Telly Streaming Awards celebrate excellence across India’s expanding digital entertainment space, bringing together top streaming platforms and multilingual productions from across the country. Ranjan’s victory not only marks a personal milestone but also positions Odia cinema prominently within the broader national OTT narrative, highlighting the increasing influence of regional storytelling.

In Jajabara 2.0, Ranjan essays the role of Jagat Panda, a morally conflicted and psychologically layered character. Viewers and critics have praised the actor’s restrained yet powerful interpretation, pointing out his ability to convey inner turbulence with subtlety and control. The film’s strong reception on streaming platforms has further established it as one of the most notable Odia digital releases in recent times.

Expressing gratitude after the win, Ranjan said, “Receiving this award for Jajabara 2.0 is truly humbling. It is a shared achievement for the entire team who believed in the story and worked tirelessly to bring it alive. I am thankful to audiences for embracing our film and encouraging Odia cinema on a national stage.”

Originally from Jarda village in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, Ranjan began his artistic journey in theatre, where he refined his craft before moving into cinema. A graduate of the Mandi School of Drama, he developed a strong foundation in performance technique and character immersion.

Over time, he has earned acclaim for his work in meaningful, content-driven films. His role in Vara: A Blessing, directed by Khyentse Norbu, brought him international exposure. He also received critical appreciation for Bhor, while the short film Beherupiya garnered festival accolades. Collectively, these projects have cemented his reputation as a versatile performer comfortable in both independent and mainstream cinematic spaces.

Observers within the industry note that Ranjan has consistently gravitated toward roles rooted in social realism, psychological exploration and human complexity, prioritising substance over spectacle.

Following his recent success, Ranjan is preparing for his next Odia feature, Jalabandha, directed by Pranab Kumar Aich. Currently in development, the film is expected to present the actor in a markedly different and demanding role. While specific plot details remain undisclosed, early discussions indicate that the project will further showcase his versatility and dedication to grounded storytelling.
