Bhubaneswar: In a fresh breach of security at the sacred Puri Jagannath Temple, a devotee was caught using a spy camera within the temple premises on Monday.
The devotee has been identified as Vipul Patel, a resident of Gujarat.
According to reports, the incident took place at the 12th-century shrine, where the use of mobile phones and cameras has been strictly prohibited by the temple administration. Patel was apprehended by Singhadwar police after he was found in possession of the concealed recording device.
This comes close on the heels of a similar incident just days ago, when a local devotee, Abhijit Kar, was found recording visuals of the deities using a spy camera hidden in the frame of his spectacles. Kar, during interrogation, admitted to filming the interiors of the temple. Police later deleted the footage from his mobile device and released him after obtaining a written undertaking.
