Puri: A 50-year-old devotee from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh died after falling unconscious inside the Shree Jagannath Temple here today.
The deceased has been identified as Pakhi Dibakar.
According to reports, Dibakar who along with his family had come to the Shree Jagannath Temple for a darshan of the deities suddenly collapsed after having darshan at the Maa Lakshmi Temple.
He was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital here. However, the attending doctors at the hospital declared him dead.
Keeping with the standard procedure, an autopsy will be conducted on the body. While initially the deceased’s family members were unwilling for a post-mortem, have later agreed for the same after counselling by the police.
