Bhubaneswar: The medal-winning athletes of Odisha Police returned home with flying colors after a stellar performance at the World Police and Fire Games 2025 held in Birmingham, USA.
A special felicitation ceremony was held at the DGP’s camp office, where the sportspersons paid a courtesy call on the State Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
Addressing the gathering, DGP Khurania congratulated the athletes for their outstanding achievements and lauded their dedication and sporting excellence. He expressed optimism that their success would inspire Odisha’s youth to take up sports and aim for new heights.
“This remarkable achievement has brought pride not only to Odisha Police but also to the entire nation,” he said.
A contingent of seven Odisha Police personnel—five men and two women—represented the Indian police team at the Games, held from June 27 to July 6, 2025.
The team etched a memorable chapter in Indian sports history by winning a total of 20 medals across various athletics and karate events. Their haul included 13 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals, significantly contributing to India’s overall medal tally.

- Ashok Dandasena (C/344): 7 Gold, 1 Silver
- Susmita Tigga (RC/286): 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze
- Sabita Toppo (RC/259): 1 Gold, 2 Bronze
- Bhagaban Reddy (RC/259): 1 Gold
- Suman Sekhar Das (RC/154): 1 Gold
- Ritesh Ray (RC/135): 1 Gold
- Abhishek Pattnaik (RC/815): 1 Bronze
Senior officials present at the event included Addl. Director General of Police (Railways and Coastal Security) Arun Bothra, Additional Director General of Security (Armed) Rajesh S. Kumar, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police Narasingha Bhol, Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) Jai Narayan Pankaj, and Railway Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Sharma. The program was conducted by Odisha Police Sports Officer Nilamadhab Swain.
The medalists were warmly welcomed this morning at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, by Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena, who greeted them with bouquets.
