Baripada: DG Police Sunil Kumar Bansal on his visit to Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday reviewed the poacher-free Similipal campaign. A high-level meeting was held with police and forest officials at Baripada police headquarters following the review.
The state police has achieved unprecedented success in freeing Similipal of poachers, the DGP said and added that Mayurbhanj police have seized more than 165 country guns and pistols along with hundreds of bullets, under the ‘Sikari Mukta Similipal” campaign which started 2 months ago.
The district police has also managed to arrest more than 21 poachers. While reviewing the seizures at the local police reserve area, the DGP thanked the Mayurbhanj police for their efforts in supporting the Forest personnel.
Bansal informed that the combing operation will be further strengthened. ADG Sanjay Kumar and IGP Himanshu Lal were present in the meeting.
