DGP On Kandhamal Visit, Appeals Maoists To Give Up Arms

Bhubaneswar: DG Police Abhay was on a tour to three Maoist-affected districts of the State on Sunday. After visiting Malkangiri and Koraput, where three Maoists surrendered before him, in the last leg of his trip, Abhay was at Kandhamal.

In Kandhamal, the DGP held a meeting with district police officials and discussed strategy to deal with Maoists and other issues pertaining to Ganja cultivation.

Abhay was accompanied by IG Operation Amitabh Thakur, IG Headquarters Devendra Singh and Director Intelligence Lalit Das. DIG Satyabrata Bhoi and SP Vinit Agarwal briefed the DGP during the meeting held at Phulbani Reserve Police Office.

The DGP has appealed the left wing extremists to give up arms and join the mainstream to be a part of Odisha’s development. Earlier in the day, the DGP oversaw the surrender of two Maoists in Malkangiri and one in Koraput districts.
