Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is introducing the “Dhadi Darshan” or queue system at Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri to streamline rush of devotees and enhance temple discipline. Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan today said that the queue system will be operational by the end of April.
A key development in temple administration is the formation of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, which will be officially constituted within a week. This committee will focus on enhancing governance, transparency, and operational efficiency at the temple. One of its first decisions is expected to be the relocation of temple hundis (donation boxes), pending approval from the Committee and the Odisha Government.
“The formation of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee will be officially constituted within a week. The Hundis in Nata Mandap are need to be relocated for the dhadi darshan. The resolution of managing committee and government approval is required for the relocation of Hundis,” Harichandan added.
“If everything goes well, the dhadi darshan wil begin by the end of this month,” the minister stated.
The new system aims to provide a seamless experience for devotees, with dedicated ramps and queue arrangements for women, children, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals. Barrier-free access will be introduced near Garuda Stambha, ensuring smooth mobility for all visitors.
