Bhadrak: The ASI of Dhamnagar police station and another cop sustained injuries when an irate mob attacked them at Chudakuti market under Dhamnagar police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Wednesday morning.

While the injured policemen have been admitted to the Dhamnagar Medical Center, police have detained one person in connection with the attack on policemen on duty.

According to reports, a police party led by the Dhamnagar ASI had gone to Chudakuti to arrest an accused wanted in connection with rioting. Unfortunately, instead of picking up the accused, the police team mistakenly nabbed an innocent. This infuriated the locals who launched a violent attack on the police team, injuring the ASI and another cop.

On receiving the news, Dhamnagar SDPO and IIC reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
