Bargarh: The Dhanu Yatra in Bargarh, recognized as the world’s largest open-air theatre, brought the third day’s scene to life with a spectacular display of joy and devotion.
On this day, the characters of Yashoda and Nanda, along with the jubilant residents of Gopapur, celebrated with spirited dance and song, playfully interacting with Krishna, even swinging him in the air.
The performance also highlighted a dramatic moment from the mythology, where King Kansa sends powerful demons to kill Krishna. However, the heroic Krishna triumphs over each demon, a scene that captivated the audience and showcased the essence of this unique theatrical tradition.
Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, and Odisha’s Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, were present at the event on Sunday. Both ministers lauded the grandeur of the festival.
Minister Pujari expressed his appreciation for the unscripted nature of the performances, stating, “The natural acts on display here bring the audience into the heart of Dwapara Yuga, creating a truly immersive experience.”
Minister Jena also praised the event’s growing popularity, remarking, “Dhanu Yatra is a powerful theatrical celebration and the largest open-air theatre in the world. This year’s event has been beautifully organized, with dedicated mobile apps and a website created to enhance the experience for visitors.”
