Bhubaneswar: In the wake of former Odisha cadre IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi’s joining BJP at New Delhi today in presence of party national president Amit Shah, Odisha BJP poster boy-cum-Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha BJP-in-charge Arun Singh and Odisha BJP president Basant Panda, speculations were rife that Aparajita would be the chief ministerial candidate of the saffron party for Odisha in the 2019 assembly elections.

As the speculations started flexing its tentacles widely, senior BJP leader and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram soon after made it loud and clear that Odisha unit of BJP will fight next elections under the leadership of Dharmendra Pradhan not Aparajita Sarangi.

Addressing media at the party headquarters here today, Jual Oram stated, “Nothing has been decided like that. She (Aparajita Sarangi) has joined BJP as a primary member. Who becomes what and when time will say.”

He averred, “I have earlier made it clear that we will fight elections under the leadership of Dharmendra Babu. I have already announced it much earlier. Why do you doubt?”

“We wish to make Dharmendra Babu Chief Minister (of Odisha). In this regard, I have already appealed you (media) previously to cooperate,” Jual Oram reiterated.
