Dharmendra Pradhan May Choose To Induct Baijayant Panda In BJP: Pratap Deb

**Bhubaneswar:** At a time when former Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda’s flight with his two accomplices over Puri, Konark and Chilika is in the eye of storm, Union Minster Dharmendra Pradhan has come out in his defence, tallying the legal proceedings in this matter to an emergency-like situation.

The ruling BJD was quick to retort on Pradhan’s analogy, advising the Union Minister to absorb Panda into the BJP.

“The words of the Union Minister and the former MP correspond starkingly. It seems, they had a discussion before opinionating. If Dharmendra Babu has so much sympathy for Mr Panda, then why not induct him into BJP,” BJD Spokesperson Pratap Deb said.

Addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday, Deb said that Pradhan’s assessment of the investigation in the ‘chopper-flying’ case, is ridiculous and programmed.

“From the past four and a half years, there have been countless cases of lynching under the pretext of cow-protection and attacks on dalits and journalists. Do these instances not amount to an emergency-like situation in the country under the ruling dispensation (BJP)?” snubbed Deb.

Taking on the former Kendrapada MP for his jaunt with Abhijit Iyer Mitra, Deb said, “How can a people’s representative accompany someone who has been criticizing Odisha and its culture on repeated occasions on social media?”

“It was not the first instance when he (Mitra) has traded barbs over our State, its people, architecture, cuisine and culture. The former MP should have at least taken all these instances into account before offering him a joyride,” Deb added.
