Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep S Puri for introducing a direct flight between Jharsuguda and Mumbai considering the larger interest of the people of Odisha.
Pradhan has written a letter to Puri seeking his personal intervention in the matter keeping in mind the benefit of the people of western part of Odisha.
“I take this opportunity to request your personal intervention in commencement of a direct flight between Jharsuguda and Mumbai at the earliest,” wrote Pradhan in a letter addressed to Puri on Wednesday.
Pradhan has also requested the Union Civil Aviation Minister to facilitate the availability of slots to the airlines.
“I also request you to facilitate the availability of slots to the airlines from Mumbai to Jharsuguda which is the main concern for airlines to start the air service,” Pradhan said in the letter.
The Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister has reminded the Civil Aviation Minister that Prime Minister’s Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme has truly given wings to the dreams and aspirations of the common man and Odisha has reaped the benefits of this visionary mission with the launch of Veer Surendra Sai airport, Jharsuguda.
Pradhan has pointed out in his letter that there is a lack of direct air connectivity between western Odisha and India’s commercial capital adding that there is a strong demand from commuters for a direct flight between Jharsuguda and Mumbai.
