Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to implement the PM SHRI scheme for the establishment of quality schools in Odisha.
In a letter to Patnaik, the Union Minister requested him to direct concerned officers of the State to sign MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for PM SHRI scheme with the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Pradhan said most of the States and UTs have signed MoUs and the first phase of the selection of schools has been completed while the second phase is in process.
The PM SHRI schools will not only focus on cognitive development but will also create holistic and well-rounded individuals equipped with key 21st century skills, the minister mentioned, he stated.
The students will be offered a wide range of learning experiences with good physical infrastructure and appropriate resources, Pradhan pointed out.
PM SHRI Scheme was launched on September 7, 2022 with an aim to establish more than 14,500 schools across the country. With the display of all the components of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 act, these schools will also provide high-quality education in an equitable, inclusive and joyful school environment, the letter read.
