Bhubaneswar: The investigation into the Dhauli gang rape case has been placed under the Red Flag category, with the probe to be conducted under the direct supervision of the Director General of Police, Crime Branch.
The Crime Branch will provide assistance to the Commissionerate Police to ensure a focused, monitored and expeditious investigation into the sensitive case.
Police sources said that two accused have so far been arrested in connection with the incident, while the prime accused remains absconding. Efforts to trace and arrest the main accused have been intensified, with multiple teams conducting raids at various locations. Senior police officers are closely monitoring the progress of the investigation.
The Red Flag categorisation is intended to ensure heightened supervision, coordinated action between agencies and swift legal proceedings in serious crimes, particularly those involving sexual violence. The Commissionerate Police, with support from the Crime Branch, is continuing its investigation to collect evidence, identify all those involved and bring the absconding accused to justice at the earliest.
