Dhenkanal: Odisha Vigilance officials caught a doctor of the district headquarters hospital here today while he was taking a bribe to countersign a death insurance claim form.
According to an official press release, one Dr Umakanta Khejuria, a Medicine Specialist serving at the district headquarters hospital here was apprehended by Vigilance officials while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 11,000 at a clinic here from a complainant to countersign the death insurance claim form of a deceased policyholder, who was under his treatment.
The woman had died recently and her only surviving 8-year-old minor daughter was to get the death insurance claim as the nominee.
Accused Dr Khejuria had demanded the bribe for countersigning the claim documents.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the accused and seized.
A case has been registered against Dr Khejuria and further investigation is underway
