Dhenkanal: In an unusual enforcement action, the furniture and official assets of the Dhenkanal Tehsildar’s office have been seized following non-payment of land acquisition compensation. The directive was issued by the Civil Judge Court while hearing a petition filed by Satyabadi Behera of Bajichowk.
Behera’s 12-decimal land near Bajichowk was acquired for the construction of a flyover, for which he was initially entitled to ₹6 lakh as compensation. After the dispute reached court in 2013, the Civil Judge in 2023 ordered that the landowner be paid ₹13 lakh, including interest.
Despite the order, the compensation amount remained unpaid. Acting on the landowner’s petition, the court directed seizure of movable government property used by the Land Acquisition Officer and the Tehsildar to enforce compliance.
Following this, officials seized the Tehsildar’s Bolero vehicle, almirah, computer, table, chairs, and other office furniture from the Tehsildar’s office.
