Dhenkanal: A 26-year-old youth, who was among a seven-member group of tourists, went missing in the calamity-hit Sikkim.
The youth named Chandrasekhar Singh from Siminai village of Dhenkanal district had left for the Himalayan State on Monday for an outing along with other friends.
He had spoken to his mother on Tuesday evening. Since then, his mobile phone has remained switched off.
“My son along with two others from neighboring Ankarantipur village and some others from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar had visited Gangtok for an outing. I spoke to him last Tuesday evening. Since Wednesday morning, I failed to contact my son”, Chandrasekhar’s inconsolable mother said.
Chandrasekhar was pursuing an engineering course at a private college in Dhenkanal.
His family members met the Collector and requested him to help find their missing son. The Collector assured them of all possible helps.
“We just knew that one Chandrasekhar Singh of Siminai village, who visited Sikkim along with other friends, has remained untraceable. We are trying to contact officials of Sikkim. But, the inclement weather conditions posed hindrance in communicating with them. We are trying our best to contact the officials in Gangtok and accordingly, we will update the family members,” Collector Saroj Kumar Sethi said.
Notably, the Himalayan State experienced a massive flash flood following a sudden cloudburst three days ago. The disaster left a trail of destruction in the State. At least 56 bodies have been found in different places so far while several others have remained untraced.
