Bhubaneswar: Ten people in Taluha village under Barchana block of Jajpur district have been affected by diarrhoea, with one person succumbing to the illness, State Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra said on Wednesday.
The deceased patient had been referred from Barchana Community Health Centre (CHC) to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where they passed away. The cause of death is currently under investigation.
Dr. Mishra added that no new cases of diarrhoea have been reported from the area. A team from Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital, along with staff from the nearby CHC, has visited the village to probe the outbreak and determine its source.
Medical teams from Jajpur Medical College and the local CHC have collected water and stool samples, which have been sent for laboratory testing. The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) has been instructed to submit a detailed report within three days.
