Bhubaneswar: Odisha MSME Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra on Sunday urged Union Minister of State for MSME Pratap Sarangi to provide central assistance to the small entrepreneurs affected in cyclone FANI.
Addressing mediapersons after attending the 33rd Annual National Level Conference of Odisha Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprises, Mishra thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the development of MSME which has started bearing fruit in shape of NALCO’s aluminium downstream park and similar initiatives of steel, garment and other industries.
In view of establishment of MSME parks in backward districts of Odisha, one park each at Hinjili and Kesinga has been approved. In future MSME park hub-centres will be set up in all backward districts to establish small industries in rural areas, said Mishra.
After inaugurating the conference, Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal said that each village of the country should become a Republic. There should be smart villages and all the vital wants of the village should be satisfied by the people of the village. As seen in Odisha, the MSMEs should reach the villages.
Around 70 lakh women of Odisha have set an example by creating small business opportunities through SHGs which will not only sustain the State but the country alike. Odisha is able to stand tall even after FANI because of the MSMEs and SHGs, he added.
While assuring of providing bank linkage facilities for MSME entrepreneurs, Sarangi said the challenges before the entrepreneurs now are how to reduce cost of production, increase profit margin, pay workers their rightful dues and for it ensure marketing facility.
Besides, bank linkage is a major challenge for the entrepreneurs as many times they lack technical knowledge or the banks don’t cooperate. As a result they are unable to avail the government facilities. Sarangi asserted that the workshop has addressed such issues.
He further informed that an entrepreneur can visit the government’s website for MSME borrowers, which offers automated processing of loan upto Rs 1 crore with an in-principal approval in 59 minutes. The entrepreneur have to submit GST Identification Number, Income tax returns or PAN card, bank statement and other documents and he or she will be provided the loan amount as per his or her eligibility.
