Rayagada: A horrifying incident of sexual violence has shaken the Gudari area of Rayagada district, where a differently-abled minor girl was allegedly gang-raped on Monday afternoon. Prompt action by the community and police led to the detention of three suspects, with authorities continuing their search for others involved.
The survivor, a resident of Naira village, had ventured into a nearby jungle to gather firewood. As she was returning home, she was reportedly intercepted by three youths. The accused then allegedly dragged her to a secluded spot and committed the crime.
Overcoming immense trauma, the young girl later confided in her parents. The family, accompanied by the village sarpanch, immediately approached the Gudari police station and filed a formal complaint.
Police responded swiftly, initiating an investigation based on the complaint. This led to the detention of three suspects, who are currently in police custody.
Official sources confirm that a case has been registered and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend any remaining accused individuals.
The incident has cast a pall over the community and reignited concerns over the safety of vulnerable sections of society, particularly women and children in remote areas.
