Digapahandi Congress Candidate Arrested For ‘Assaulting’ Business Rival

Berhampur: Police arrested Saka Sujit Kumar, the Congress candidate from Digapahandi Assembly constituency in Odisha’s Ganjam district, for allegedly assaulting his business rival.

According to reports, the incident occurred near the Berhampur police station on Wednesday, and Kumar was taken into custody on Thursday, they said. Berhampur SP Sarthak Sarangi said three persons, including a builder identified as Sudhansu Sangram Padhy of Sihala, were injured in the alleged assault.

Some miscreants attacked Padhy’s staff when they were working at a plot in the Kukudakhandi area. When Padhy and his staff were on their way to the police station to complain, the Congress nominee and his men allegedly attacked them, police said on Friday.

The police also arrested K Amit Kumar, an associate of the Congress candidate involved in the real estate business.
