Berhampur: Acting on a tip-off, Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids at properties associated with Kahnu Charan Pattnaik, Territorial Forest Range Officer, Digpahandi in Ganjam district.
According to Odisha Vigilance, the raids were conducted after a team of Odisha Vigilance intercepted Pattanaik’s car plying from Digpahandi to Berhampur, and seized cash to the tune of Rs.1.5 lakh late Monday on the suspicion that it was ill-gotten cash. Pattnaik was unable to give any satisfactory account for the cash seized from his vehicle.
Following the interception, simultaneous searches are being carried out at three locations associated with Pattnaik, including his residence at Berhampur, from the disproportionate asset (DA) angle.
During searches so far, the Vigilance sleuths recovered and seized more cash to the tune of approximately Rs 3.5 lakh. The total cash recovered and seized from Pattanaik’s possession is Rs 5 lakh.
Further investigation is underway and more detail is awaited.
