Berhampur: One can move mountains, all that he or she needs is faith in self. Factors like disability appear petty if a person has willpower and commitment to a cause.
We are talking about the resolve of a candidate contesting for the post of Ward Member in the upcoming urban polls from Hinjli Municipality.
Though physically challenged, Rabindra Panigrahi, contesting from Ward No. 10 in Hinjli urban polls, is determined to the development of his locality.
“Disability cannot be a disadvantage if my determination is strong and I am committed to the cause of the local people,” said Panigrahi.
There is a shloka in Sanskrit – ‘Mukam karoti vacalam, pamgum laṃghayate giri, yat krupa tamaham vamde paramananda madhavam’. The shloka translates in English as –
“I salute that supreme bliss, Madhava, by whose mercy the dumb become most eloquent and the lame are able to jump over the mountains.”
Panigrahi is campaigning for himself by moving door-to-door on his tricycle. “Have belief in my dedication and I will live up to your expectations,” he said to the electorate showing his election symbol, and appealed for their vote.
