Bhubaneswar: Environmental Science and Disaster Management will now be a compulsory subject for +3 first-year students in Odisha.
“Keeping with the Cabinet resolution, the Higher Education Council in a very short time has devised a course (Subject paper) of 100 marks by including Disaster Management with Environmental Science,” informed Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo today.
Sahoo said that this will be a compulsory subject for +3 students.
A resolution in this connection was passed by the Higher Education Council at its meeting today, he added.
Worth mentioning, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during a meeting of his Council of Ministers in May this year on the occasion of completion of two years of the fifth term of his Government had resolved for inclusion of ‘disaster preparedness’ as part of the curriculum in schools and colleges.
